A Nicholson Civil Project

Yarrabilba QLD

Project Overview

Civil siteworks and stormwater drainage package for a College, Yarrabilba. Scope includes bulk earthworks with full subgrade replacement, civil stormwater drainage, bio-retention zones, and concrete footpaths, all delivered under Level 1 geotech supervision while the school remained operational.

One of the key challenges of this project was working within an active school environment. All construction activities, deliveries, and heavy plant movements were carefully scheduled around school hours and pickup and drop-off times to ensure the safety of students and staff throughout the works.

The civil scope was designed by Bligh Tanner and included full site establishment and erosion and sediment control management in accordance with IECA standards, bulk earthworks comprising full removal of existing unsuitable fill material to 1,200mm depth and replacement with compacted imported material across approximately 3,000m³, all works undertaken under Level 1 geotechnical supervision by RMA Soils + Geotechnical, demolition of existing redundant underground stormwater pipes and pits, construction of building working platforms to CBR45 subgrade standard extending 1.5m beyond the building footprints for Buildings K1 and K2, civil stormwater drainage including field inlet pits, junction pits, access chambers, and 300mm and 375mm BLACKMAX RCP pipelines, construction of rock-lined landscaped swales and bio-retention zones with HDPE impermeable liner, aggregate layers and geotextile separation, three parallel 225mm concrete culvert pipes crossing the central access path with precast or cast in-situ headwalls, concrete pedestrian footpaths to CBR45 base standard with SL82 mesh reinforcement, saw cutting and removal of existing concrete and asphalt, and CCTV inspection of all stormwater works with as-built survey documentation on completion.
